CHERRY HILL, NJ – October 15, 2012 – For the second straight year, documentary videos produced by Cherry Hill, NJ-based Lubetkin Global Communications have been recognized with JASPER Awards from the Jersey Shore Public Relations and Advertising Association (JSPRAA). The 2012 awards are the fifth and sixth JASPERs the firm has won for its audio and video podcast productions.
The firm won a Gold JASPER Award in the Television/Video Documentary (10-30 minutes) category for its video tribute, “Leon Levy Honored by Congregation Mikveh Israel,” produced to honor Levy, president of the Philadelphia-based congregation, the second oldest synagogue in North America, for more than 30 years. The video was shown at Levy’s retirement gala at the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia, which was attended by 300 guests including the late US Sen. Arlen Specter and former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell.
The firm earned a Silver JASPER Award in the Television/Video TV Special Programming category for a documentary about Congregation Mikveh Israel’s dedication of a new Torah scroll. The video captures the special “siyyum” ceremony to mark the completion of the scroll by a special scribe known as a sofer and includes interviews with the sofer, remarks by the synagogue’s rabbi, Rabbi Albert Gabbai, and shows scenes from the celebration.
DVDs of the videos are available for purchase in the Lubetkin Communications online store.
The JASPER awards were presented to Lubetkin Global Communications at JSPRAA’s awards dinner at the Robert B. Meyner Reception Center at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, Monmouth County, on October 12.
“This recognition of the quality of our video productions is especially meaningful to our firm because I did not enter the documentary video field through traditional film school training and apprenticeship,” said Steve Lubetkin, director and videographer for the two videos. “The composition and imaging skills I learned from my father Maurice ‘Murray’ Lubetkin – a professional photographer and photography instructor at Ft. Monmouth — coupled with my broadcast production experience from my years in radio, gave me the tools I needed to grow our successful documentary capabilities. The Internet makes it possible to gain wide audiences for documentary video and audio programs like the ones we produced for Congregation Mikveh Israel.”
In 2011, Lubetkin won Silver JASPER Awards in the Television/Video Documentary (10-30 minutes) category for its video documentary produced for The Pines at Whiting, a continuing care retirement community in the Whiting section of Manchester Township, Ocean County; and in the Television/Video TV Special Programming category for its promotional video prepared on behalf of the 2011 American Transplant Congress, a joint event of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the American Society of Transplantation held in Philadelphia.
In 2008, Lubetkin Communications won a Silver JASPER Award for podcast audio programs it produced for NAPL, a global printing and graphic communications trade association, and in 2009 it shared a Silver JASPER Award with Take This Journey, another Cherry Hill-based video firm, for a video documentary, “Touching People’s Lives,” for the Samost Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Southern New Jersey.
